The Appraiser Qualification Board (AQB) issued new appraiser qualification standards and experience requirements, effective May 1st, 2018! All states and territories can implement the standards as written, implement what they deem reasonable, or make no changes to the present state standard. It’s a state option!

The Washington Department of Licensing (DOL) is holding three meetings this month. These meetings are in regard to the AQB’s new appraiser qualification standards. These standards affect all classifications of the residential and commercial appraisal profession.  For those not familiar with the new criteria, it can be viewed in the below link.

The meetings will occur in three locations across the state this month.  The following link shows the locations, dates, and times.  It also provides information on alternatives to providing your comments and/or concerns.

DOL Public Meetings – New AQB Standards

Last, the ACOW board of directors provided DOL their thoughts on this issue in early March of this year.  The following letter to DOL explains our views on the new standards and how the state of Washington should implement the new AQB standards.

While there may be more meetings scheduled in the future, at present, we have no intel on that.  So we encourage you to get out to one of these meetings or otherwise let DOL know what you think via the alternative methods!
