We believe that the path to progress takes different ideas, backgrounds, cultures, insight, and knowledge. It takes all of us. The Coalition welcomes diversity within our organization and holds a strong commitment to provide fair, equitable, and inclusive access to opportunities that promote the involvement of members with culturally and professionally diverse backgrounds.

Here is how, in principle and in practice, we take actionable steps towards member participation that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive:

  • To encourage diverse and inclusive perspectives, our bylaws specify that there are three elected Organization Member positions and one Trainee Appraiser position on our Board of Directors. (Organization Members simultaneously hold membership in one of the three largest partner organizations within the state:  Appraisal Institute, International Right of Way Association, and International Association of Assessing Officers.) This intentionality in the structure of our board ensures we are including voices and perspectives of members who can bring knowledge, insight, and representation on matters of importance to members of their respective organizations and license status.

  • To provide fair opportunity and access to leadership roles, invitations to join our efforts are sent to our entire member list throughout the year. We hold a formal nominations process, open to all members, and nominees are voted on during our final meeting of the calendar year.

  • We promote accessibility to required education for credential renewal by providing multiple opportunities for earning continuing education credits at reduced cost to our members.

  • Opportunities for member participation are encouraged and openly communicated via multiple outlets throughout the year (email, social media, and booth presence at various conferences/events).

  • Representation from women and various minority groups on the board and within the organization's administration has increased by more than 50% since 2023.

  • Our monthly meetings are open for anyone to attend and join our discussions.
